Shanghai

My first full day in Shanghai. I am still recovering from jet lag, but I got out and saw the city a bit anyways. In the morning, a few of us went for a short walk to the nearest bike shop, a Trek store. I also got a SIM card for my phone.

I then went out to meet my cousin Jasmine, who moved to Shanghai from California a few years ago. Neither of us could remember the last time we saw each other, and it was great to catch up.

I took the subway to get there, and it was great. There are subway lines running all over the city, and it is really cheap and easy to figure out where to go. It made the TTC look even worse than it already did (somehow). I met Jasmine for lunch at her office in the French Concession. It is a pretty beautiful part of shanghai, with nice wide streets lined with trees.

Then I paid a visit to Factory Five, a very cool fixed gear bike shop. I talked with one of the employees, Jeff, who happened to know Jasmine!

I decided to walk back to the hotel. The heat and humidity tired me out on the 5km walk, but I did enjoy seeing some of the city.
